The Horizon Europe project COLOSSUS officially kicked off on 6–7 November 2025 in Mafra, Portugal. Coordinated by TecnoVeritas, the project brings together six partners from three countries (Portugal, Greece and the Czech Republic), who engaged in dynamic discussions to define the project’s core objectives, methodologies, and concrete next steps.
Inspired by the Colossus of Rhodes, COLOSSUS aims to strengthen the protection of Europe’s port infrastructure through cutting-edge autonomous technologies. The project delivers an integrated solution for the digital security, resilience, and maintenance of port infrastructures, enabling real-time data access via autonomous unmanned systems operating at sea, on land, and in the air, complemented by advanced sensor networks.
Developed in response to the growing demand for maritime security, COLOSSUS seeks to transform the way EU maritime infrastructures are protected, fully aligning with the updated EU Maritime Security Strategy (EUMSS 2023). By uniting innovative Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs) from multiple Member States, the project leverages Europe’s innovation capacity to address key challenges identified in the EU Blue Growth Strategy and the European Green Deal.
